How my time at Salford Business School has prepared me for a career in Digital Trade for the Post Covid world.

The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated digital transformation across industries and fundamentally changed the way businesses operate globally. As economies emerge from this crisis, the significance of digital trade and e-commerce adoption has never been greater. My time at Salford Business School has equipped me with the required knowledge and skills to thrive as a digital trade expert in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Salford's MSc Digital Business program has provided me with a deeper understanding of digital transformation strategies, social media marketing, project management, and digital entrepreneurship - all essential skills for a career as a digital trade expert. Maintaining a key focus on emerging technologies such as Generative AI, the curriculum delved into real-world business applications, risks, and opportunities presented by emerging digital trends.

The "Information Systems and Digital Transformation" module explored how digital technologies can revolutionize traditional business models and drive innovation. This knowledge has been critical in my role as an e-commerce consultant, where I advise companies on leveraging digital platforms, data analytics, and emerging technologies to optimize their international trade operations and gain a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

The "Search & Social Media Marketing" module has equipped me with valuable insights into leveraging digital marketing channels to reach international audiences and build brand awareness across borders. As a digital marketer, I frequently draw upon these skills to help clients develop effective cross-border digital marketing strategies and navigate the complexities of digital trade regulations and barriers in different markets.

Moreover, the emphasis on practical, industry-focused learning through the "Industry Collaboration Project" was incredibly beneficial. By working on a live brief from a real organization, I gained hands-on experience in tackling real-world digital trade challenges, from understanding cross-border e-commerce logistics to navigating the intricate web of digital trade agreements and policies.

As the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol on digital trade comes into effect, facilitating cross-border digital trade within Africa, demand for expertise in digital trade will continue to rise.

From understanding the nuances of digital trade and its implications for development to analyzing digital trade statistics and trends, I have gained a well-rounded perspective on this rapidly evolving field. As businesses worldwide continue to embrace digital trade, I am confident that my time at Salford Business School has positioned me as a valuable asset in navigating the complexities of the post-COVID digital trade landscape.
